Jerry Angle – Past President

Jerry was the founding President of the Pang Patriots. An Air Force veteran, he attended Phoenix College (Student Body President), graduated from ASU with High Distinction in 1956 and from the University of Arizona College of Law with Distinction in 1959 (President of the Student Bar Association). He was a founding member of the Law Firm of Warner Angle Hallam Jackson & Formanek and served as President and Chairman of the Board for many years. He served as Judge Pro Tern of the Maricopa County Superior Court for 12 years and the Arizona Court of Appeals for 4 terms (voluntary positions without compensation), and was a lawyer delegate to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals Judicial Conference for 2 terms.

Jerry has been active in professional, community and charitable groups including service as President of the Maricopa County Bar Association, President of the Arizona Bar Foundation, now the Arizona Foundation for Legal Services. Chairman of the Board of the Valley of the Sun YMCA, served on the National Board of the YMCA, was Chairman of the Board of the John C. Lincoln Health Network, and served as an Officer and Board member of Arizona Literacy and Learning Center, President of the Verde Vaqueros, (a support group for the Scottsdale Boys and Girls Clubs), President of the University of Arizona Law College Association and as a member of the Board of Visitors of the University of Arizona College of Law.

Awards and honors include the award by the University of Arizona College of Law of its Distinguished Graduate award in 1991 for Significant Professional Achievement, and from the University of Arizona Alumni Association the Distinguished Citizen Award in 1999. He has been inducted by the Maricopa County Bar Association into its Hall of Fame.

Nancy Bell – Secretary/Treasurer

Nancy is an active member of the PANG Patriots since June 2003 serving as Secretary/Treasure. Graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Phoenix, she has lived most of her life in Phoenix. Nancy worked in the heavy equipment industry for many years and now works in property management in Phoenix. She is also an active member of a local four-wheel drive club for over 40-years.

Dean Butler – Past President

Moved to Arizona in 1966 where he has lived except for a 10 year term in the corporate home office. Dean Butler operates a Farmers Insurance Agency in Scottsdale, Arizona. Elected to the PANG Board of Directors in November 2006,

In addition to the PANG Board, he currently serves as the Chairman of the Board for the Arizona Automobile Theft Authority, Chairman/Co-Founder of the Arizona Scouting Museum, and Board member of his homeowners association.

Dean and his wife, Trudy live in north Phoenix and has one son Sean.

Scott Essex – Past President
In 1986, after 11 years in banking, managing the mortgage department for a regional bank in Michigan and earning a bachelors degree from Michigan State University and an MBA from the University of Michigan, Scott moved to Tempe. He opened the Arizona Trust Department for Johnson Bank then retired as its VP and Trust Manager in February of 1998.

Scott’s primary focus shifted to writing and the numerous volunteer efforts that he had engaged with earlier, including,
- the Employer Support of Guard and Reserve (1991 to present) in his fifth year as the State Chair,
- the Tempe Chamber’s Military Affairs Committee (1991-present),
- the Phoenix Air National Guard Patriot Committee as a board member and the Chair for two years, supporting the 161st ARW, 107th Air Control Squadron, JCNTF and the Joint Force Head Quarters (JFHQ).
- the AZ JFHQ Diversity Committee (2007- Present)

In February 2011, Scott received the Copper Sword Award from the Arizona Veterans Hall of Fame. It’s given to an individual who has never been in the military but who did the most for military members that year.

In 2008, Scott joined the Employer Partnership of the Armed Forces to find civilian employment for Guard and Reserve members, Veterans and their families.

Other community service activities include Tempe Diablos (a non-profit group promoting youth in Tempe), the Tempe Municipal Art Commission (1999-2008), the Fiesta Bowl Parade. the Tempe Sister Cities Program, a board member of the Maya Research Program at Texas Christian University and the West Coast Council for Michigan State University, the Friends of the Tempe Art Center (co-founder and treasurer 2006-2009) and the Krewe of Mid City.

Glenn Klassen – Past President

Native of Mesa AZ. Enlisted in the US Air Force at age 17. Transferred to the 161st Air Refueling Wing in 1981 and enjoyed a total of thirty years of military service. Continues to serve the 161 ARW as Director, Airman and Family Programs office, whose primary mission is to provide support to the families of deployed Airmen, including single Airmen. Member, PANG Patriots Board of Directors since 2004.

William “Bill” Mack




Bill Patton – President

Bill retired from the military in 2004 after amassing 32 years and over 8000 hours of flying time in B-52 and KC-135 aircraft, serving in numerous campaigns from ARC-LIGHT in Southeast Asia in the ’70′s to Desert Shield/Desert Storm, Northern and Southern Watch, Operation Deny Flight and other Southwest Asia operations in support of more recent conflicts. Well traveled, he has seen more than 17 foreign countries and almost all 50 states. His last assignment was Wing Commander of the 161st Air Refueling Wing. More recently he flew Boeing 707′s on a US Navy contract conducting aerial refueling missions for the Navy and our NATO allies. Born in Birmingham, Alabama he is a ’71 grad of the University of Alabama and has a Masters Degree from Embry Riddle University.

Mills SinclarMills Sinclair – Vice President
Over the past 35 years, Mr. Sinclair has developed a broad based business background that includes restaurant acquisitions and operations, commercial and residential real estate acquisitions and development, securities and investments.

After graduating from Arizona State University, he has held various executive level positions in a variety of investment and security companies, restaurants and real estate development organizations. Joining the board of directors of the PANG Patriots in June 2005 he continues to serve and support this organization.

He is married to Carla and has two daughters.
